13-19 Art Prize

13-19 Art Prize

Launched in 2021, the 13-19 Art Prize is an annual art competition which seeks to recognise and celebrate young art talents in Singapore, while also imparting values of giving-back to the community to support their peers from disadvantaged backgrounds through the arts.

Open to young talents aged 13 to 19 years old, the 13-19 Art Prize seeks to inspire the next generation of artists to take their creative potential to new heights and promote a diversity of artistic expressions.

As a fundraiser, all winning works from the 13-19 Art Prize (both canvas and digital) are exhibited and auctioned to raise funds for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF). Adopted by The Business Times in 2005, BT BAF has reached out to over 20,000 children and youth from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, empowering them to pursue their dreams and fulfil their potential in the arts. The fund provides structured arts training programmes at two arts training centres managed by TRCL, The Little Arts Academy and 10 Square Youth.

The 2023 edition

The 2023 edition of the 13-19 Art Prize sees the competition expanding to encompass new categories. 2022 saw the Digital Art category welcome entries from youths aged 13-19 residing in the region, with the Physical Art category remaining open only to those residing in Singapore. 2023 will include 4 new sub-categories: Digital Photography, Photograph Prints, Moving Images, and Sculpture/Ceramic Works.

Their submissions will be judged by a panel of judges comprising well-known artists and art professionals based on concept, creativity/originality, aesthetic quality (design, composition and colour/tones) and technical skill.

All winning entries will be exhibited and auctioned online at www.trcl.sg/13-19-art-prize. Artwork purchases, excluding the delivery cost of the artwork (for Canvas Artworks, Print Photography, Sculpture/Ceramic Works) and less related fees (for Digital Artworks, Digital Photography, Moving Images), qualifies for 250% tax deduction.
